The minimum number of gear teeth in a gear depends on the pressure angle at zero gearing correction. The worm diameter d1 is arbitrary and depends on a known module value, mx or mn. Worms and gears with different ratios can be interchanged. An involute helicoid ensures proper contact and shape, and provides higher accuracy and life.
